Swing Dancing in Cork
The Spiegeltent Swing Extravaganza Part of the Midsummer Festival, Emmet Place. Thursday June 26th. Doubletime goes overboard! A night of hot and heady music and dance from ragtime to swing. A fabulous live performance with the Swing Street band will have you rugcuttin' like never before as they play a soulfully percussive mixture of jump blues and boogie woogie. Throughout the evening, expect the unexpected – spontaneous dance displays of the Charleston, tap, lindy hop, and swing dance. Later in the night Dj Gary , Jess-a-Belle and Dj Divine Miss P will be spinnin' to guarantee you'll be swingin' as that infectious rhythmic momentum of the greatest big band jazz of the 1930's and 40's will have everybody on the floor. In the unique atmosphere of the Spiegeltent, with visuals from vintage "soundies" and movies like "Hellzapoppin", it's a wonderful celebration of African-American music and dance of the early 20th century not to be missed!

Aug 12th onwards New Swing club ‘Deca-Dance’ starting Tuesdays from August 12th in the Liquid Lounge in Clancy’s Bar plus 5 week swing dance course or drop in lessons. 5 weeks €30 or €8 per night. Free 9.30pm – 10.30pm. Improvers Swing 8.00-8.40pm and beginners Swing 8.45-9.30pm. Dj Divine Miss P will then play some cool and funky tunes to keep you dancing till 10.30pm.
